Our History

Pieces of Heaven was established in the Barnyard Shopping Village by Katherine Hoshor in 1987 in Carmel California. Acquired by Peg and Bob Whitted in 1995, Pieces of Heaven Chocolate has garnered a reputation as the premier chocolatier on the Monterey Peninsula and has provided some of the most exclusive peninsula resorts with confections.
With their 30+ year background in creating chocolates, the product line has been continually expanded and refined to satisfy the discriminating palate of their loyal customers. Only the finest premium chocolate, fresh roasted or raw nuts, pure creamery butter and heavy cream along with the purest of ingredients are used to create the most delectable mouth watering treats imaginable. Highest quality and freshness are ensured by making small batches in old-world methods by hand.
The owner-masters have taught numerous educational classes and have donated chocolate classes to various non-profit organization fundraisers. Lyceum children in the peninsula area have experienced chocolate classes at Pieces of Heaven as a way to broaden their process awareness and have fun as well.
Peg and Bob have each achieved the title of Master Confectioner, Emeritus through the years of making fine chocolates, candy schools and attending seminars of Retail Confectioners International. Peggy also received the Frank Smullen Award for Scholarship, Leadership and Cooperation through the RCI Candy School in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1998.
